Values that cost us something.
A value that never changes a decision is a slogan. Each of these has cost us an engagement, a shortcut, or an easier answer — and we would make the same call again.
- 01
The operating reality comes first
We start with the process, the constraint, and the people who live with it. A model that is elegant but ignores how the work actually happens is a liability, not a result.
- 02
Ship something real
Strategy that never reaches production is expensive theatre. We sequence toward a working system in the client's own environment, early enough that the organisation can feel the difference.
- 03
Own the outcome, not the hours
We are accountable for what the system does after handover. That means measuring it, defending it, and staying long enough to see it hold under real load.
- 04
Say the honest thing
If AI is the wrong lever for a problem, we say so and lose the engagement. A client who trusts our no is a client who can trust our yes.
- 05
Leave the client stronger
Every engagement should raise the ceiling of what the client's own team can build. We document, pair, and hand over the reasoning, not just the artefact.
- 06
Craft over volume
We take on fewer engagements than we could. Depth is the product, and it does not survive being spread thin.
How this shows up
What it looks like in practice.
We will tell you when AI is the wrong answer. If a process is broken because of unclear ownership or missing data, a model will not fix it, and we will say so before you spend money finding out.
We will not sell you a pilot we do not believe can reach production. If the data is not there or the organisation is not ready, we would rather help you get ready than take the engagement and fail publicly.
We will hand over the reasoning, not just the code. That sometimes means writing ourselves out of the next phase, which is the correct outcome.
Next: how an engagement actually runs.
